Personally, I'm not a fan of allowing an automated device to have control of network hardware. I realize that SDN is a buzz topic right now, but dollar for dollar, I'd rather have an engineer behind the console than a machine. Even with perfect programming, machines can't make decisions like humans can, so to have a change initiated based on an alert sounds ill-advised.
Maybe as wluther said, send me an alert with an "approve" button (or accept an email reply to approve) for small changes would be ok, but not for anything more than minor changes.
